LdM-MARIST STAFF Marist International Programs staff are dedicated to serving the needs of the students enrolled in our Marist-LdM study abroad and bachelor’s degree programs. Members of this team reside both in Florence and in New York. The program coordinator, located in Poughkeepsie, New York will assist students prior to departure with course selections, visas and other pre-departure issues. The residential life staff in Florence is available to assist students once they arrive in Florence. A Florence-based assistant director will serve as an academic advisor to all degree program students and supervise their curriculum and programming. They will support students at the point of their arrival and will assist with any issues or concerns that may arise throughout their time in Florence. The faculty and staff of Lorenzo de' Medici, who have been working with Marist students for over 15 years, will also serve students. The Director of Marist-LdM Programs and the faculty coordinators at Marist College in Poughkeepsie will oversee the curriculum of the degree program and assist students with academic planning.
STUDENT SERVICES Students enrolled at the Florence campus will have access to similar services as those students in Poughkeepsie, including access to on-line transcripts, the Marist College on-line library, career services, Student Financial Services, and much more. Students traveling to Florence are provided with a comprehensive international health insurance policy. The residential life staff and LdM’s Student Services division are fully trained and equipped to assist any students needing support. |
HOUSING The Marist-LdM program provides students with the opportunity to reside together in a combined residence area or independently in the city of Florence. City-apartment accommodations allow for the community development significant to most university housing. Apartments are furnished and equipped with bed linen, basic pots and pans, kitchen utensils, and internet. Some apartments may have a washing machine and television. Although apartments are of the same standard and have similar facilities, no two apartments are alike.
A resident director is available to enhance the community experience by planning in-house programs, arranging excursions, upholding college policy, and facilitating students with living adjustments. Resident directors provide conflict mediation, crisis intervention, accommodation to housing requests, and serve as a liaison to both LdM in Florence and Marist College in Poughkeepsie.

CLUB There is a wide array of activities for Marist-LdM students to take part in. LdM provides the opportunity to join groups such as the Writing Club, Film Club, Slow Drink Club, Music Club, Dance Club, and Volunteer Club. More details about the clubs at LdM can be found in this link. Throughout each semester, the student academic advisor will notify students of cultural events and happenings going on within the city. These events are often musical and theater productions, local festivals and celebrations, as well as promotions at museums, restaurants and other venues.
Additionally, activities and excursions are arranged for Marist-LdM bachelor's students including overnight and day trips. Previous day trips have included a visit to the Leaning Tower in Pisa, a lunch and walking tour of Siena, a private tour of the catacombs beneath St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, shopping at designer outlets, and trips to the beach. One overnight trip is included in the program cost each semester. The 2006-2007 trip included two nights in Torino, the home of the 2006 Winter Olympics. Additional overnight academic field trips are offered to all students studying at LdM for a small fee. Past trips have included weekend trips to Naples, the Swiss Alps and the French Riviera.
