Welcome,

THE MARIST-NEWBURGH INTERNATIONAL PROJECT
"From High-School to College and Beyond: A Technology-Supported Mentoring Project in Foreign Languages and Foreign Cultures Instruction"

Now extended to a fourth year, the Marist Newburgh project is supported by a grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE). With the common goal of using technology to encourage our students to pursue languages and cultures studies and seek international work opportunities, Marist College and the Newbugh Free Academy collaborated for the first three years on an enriching program of faculty workshops and students activities. In this fourth year, Marist is consolidating the methodologies and technological products it developed to create a permanent resource for student-teachers and high shool teachers in the field of Foreign Languages and Cultures studies.

In the course of looking for effective and realistic ways to engage our students, we have found that this can only happen with the support of the entire college. We are much indebted to the Asian Alliance, the Hispanic El Arco Iris Club, The Global Ambassadors, the International Club, the Office of International Programs, the Academic Learning Center, the HEOP Office, The Library staff, The President and Academic Vice-President of the College, the support of Dr. David Johnson of FIPSE, and the dedicated Marist and high-school faculty who have volunteered additional time to enrich the students.

Our activity reports are posted here in full, to offer a view of our successes and our difficulties. We welcome comments and questions.
